C-MURDER'S MURDER CONVICTION OVERTURNED
Corey "C-Murder" Miller, the brother of No Limit founder
Percy"Master P" Miller, may be released from prison as
early as today after the Louisiana Supreme Court's decision
Friday (March 10) to overturn his murder conviction.
The rapper was convicted of second-degree murder in
the shooting death of 16-year-old Steven Thomas following an
altercation inside of the Platinum Club in Jefferson Parish,
Louisiana in January 2002. Miller pleaded not guilty to
second-degree murder and was held on $2 million bond.
But it was later revoked after authorities claimed he bribed
two Jefferson Parish officers to smuggle a cell phone and
charger into the prison. Prosecutors said Miller planned to
use the equipment to make phone calls in an attempt
influence trial witnesses.

At a Dec. 2003 hearing to appeal the verdict, a woman who testified for the prosecution revealed she did not actually see Miller fire the shots, reports Allhiphop.com.

The witness added that she saw another man, known as
"Calliope Slim," brandishing a gun moments before the
shooting. The appeal hearing also revealed that detectives
in the original case cleared parking tickets and a felony theft
arrest warrant for one of the witnesses' friends in exchange for testimony. The defense argued that it casts doubt on the
credibility of the witnesses.
Last month, the Louisiana Supreme Court granted a
request from Miller for a new trial, putting the next step in
the hands of the prosecution to decide if they will retry the artist's second-degree murder case.
