B-BALLER

Is this is newest sad trend amongst black celebs? The Chicago Sky, the newest team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), announced today that musical artist Michelle Williams is part of its group of minority owners. Williams, of Destiny's Child, will be in Chicago February 27-28 to participate in special events for the Chicago Sky. Williams, a vocalist, songwriter and performer, is a native and resident of Rockford, IL.

Also among the group of minority investors is prominent music executive/manager Mathew Knowles, who represents Williams and Destiny's Child.

While in Chicago, Williams will be making an appearance at a local Boys & Girls Club. "I'm thrilled to have a stake in the WNBA as it expands into my hometown with the Chicago Sky," Williams said. "It's great to be part of an organization such as the WNBA that is not only exciting and fun, but fosters a strong sense of empowerment in girls and women. I'm looking forward to being in the front row at Chicago Sky games and cheering them on to many championship seasons." The team is owned and operated by Chicago businessman Michael Alter, with a select group of local investors serving as minority owners. The Chicago Sky is the second WNBA team owned and run by an entity outside of the NBA.
